What is Profibus?
Profibus (Process Field Bus) is a communication standard used in industrial automation. It allows different devices, like sensors and controllers, to communicate with each other quickly and reliably. PROFIBUS standard includes: PROFIBUS DP (master/slave), PROFIBUS FMS (multi-master/point-to-point), PROFIBUS PA (explosion-proof). DP, FMS and PA respectively represent Decentralized Pheriphery, Fieldbus Message Specification, and Process Automation.
For a good signal transmission, it is necessary to terminate Profibus segments by a bus termination. For Profibus RS485 a bus termination consists of a combination of three resistors, 2*390Ω+220Ω. For Profibus MBP (PA) a bus termination consists of a resistor and a capacitor.
PROFIBUS DP/FMS uses an active bus termination with a 5V supply according to the following diagram.

Resistor 2: 0.25W 220Ω ±1 %
Resistor 3: 0.25W 390Ω ±1 %
